University Main Building at The New Capital

The design for the main building for an international university at the new Capital of Cairo, Egypt was done by ME architects. The main theme of the proposed design is to create a design that adheres to the identity of Cairo's residents. The metrics of this identity were driven from the under-publishing theory of "Urban Identity Using the Six Dimensions of Urbanity". The main building and the other three buildings were designed to condensate the built-up area in certain locations. This condensation will create optimal Social, Functional, and Environmental consequences. The condensation will also give the opportunity for a green buffer, in the location of the condensate buildings, to exist.

The Cairo’s resident’s identity was reflected in the optimization of details that relates to smaller scale activities. The accumulation of these details created the whole. Meanings of purity, meditation, essence, and emotions were amongst the highest valued gestures. The modern shading element reflected their artistic, logical modern derivatives. Seventy percent of the designed halls were left open to match the fact that, seventy percent of the year outdoor there is no need for any mechanical cooling or heating.
